FAQ

Q: WHAT IS THE EFFECT OF ANTI-BIOTIC RESIDUAL ON HUMANS?

A: When anti-biotic fluids find its way to the egg as residual, the anti-biotic's medicinal properties doesn't reduce. Long term intake of these eggs will affect the immune system adversely. Some of the causes include children having recurring flu and cough, an increase chance of miscarraige among pregnant women and new born babies being more prone to various health problems. One should note that antibiotics administered to egg laying hens are not suitable for human consumption. Unfortunately, there is no effective governmental monitoring and control over the use of antibiotics in the agricultural sector. Furthermore, unscrupulous use of antibiotics can also cause bacteria to mutate, gradually resisting the antibiotic drugs. This is why a heavier dose or new types of antibiotics are used to treat illnesses that were easily cured in the past using only a light dose of antibiotics.

Q: DO REAL FREE RANGE EGGS HAVE ORANGE/RED YOLKS? ARE EGGS WITH ORANGE/RED YOLKS MORE NUTRITIOUS?

A: That is untrue. Yolks from hens have always been yellow. The type of feed given to the egg laying hens directly impacts the colour of the yolk. Even so, the yellow saturation will only vary in density. If the yolk is orange or red, it is a clear and sure sign that colour additives or other kinds of additives are present in the feed that was given to the egg laying hens. A common colour additive that is used is Lucantin Red, a colour additive that is permitted to be used for food. However, one should note that prolonged intake of food with this colour additive or heavy doeses above the recommended quantity will cause dire problems to the digestive system.

Q: ARE FREE RANGE EGGS NATURALLY SMALLER IN SIZE?

The size of the eggs correspond to the age of the egg laying hens. Younger hens lay smaller eggs and older hens lay larger eggs.

Q: WHY ARE LUHENG FREE RANGE EGGS MORE EXPENSIVE?

Luheng Free Range Eggs are laid by hens that are raised through the free range method. There are no antibiotics injected or congested in the process; instead, pure herbal products are used as chicken feed. By raising these hens in a way where they are free to roam, the egg productions are 40% to 50% lower than those raised in battery cages. Due to these two factors, the cost of production per egg is significantly higher, hence the price.
